National Review Meet (NRM) of ENVIS NRM was held on Tuesday, 2nd April, 2019 in the MoEFCC, New Delhi, organised by ENVIS Secretariat, EI division, MoEFCC. All the ENVIS HUBs and RPs have displayed their knowledge products, as well as activities undertaken under GSDP and NES-GRIDSS in the NRM . Secretary MoEFCC has chaired the NRM. Special Invitees to the NRM are Shri. B. KalyanChakravarthy, IAS, Director General, EPTRI; Dr.Kailash Chandra, Director, BSI; Dr. Ashok Ghosh, Chairman, BSPSB; Prof. S. K. Barik, Director, NBRI. The NRM started with inauguration of ENVIS Exhibition by Secretary, MoEFCC. Welcome address was given by Economic Advisor, EI Division. Presentation on ENVIS Scheme was given by Dr.Urmila, JD, EI Division. The review and way forward of ENVIS activities was addressed by Dr.Anandi Subramanian-Principal Advisor, EI division, MoEFCC. About GSDP Under the Skill India Mission of the Government of India, the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC) has initiated the Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP). The Hon’ble Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan, in the presence of Dr.Anandi Subramanian-Principal Advisor, ShriYashvir Singh, Economic Advisor &Ms.Urmila-Joint Director, MoEF&CC had launched the Green Skill Development Programme (GSDP) on 14th May, 2018. The Green SkillDevelopment Programme (GSDP) has been conceptualised anddeveloped in Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change(MoEF&CC). MoEF&CC has been implementing a Central SectorScheme titled ENVIS since 1982-83. ENVIS, by providingscientific, technical and semi- technical information on variousenvironmental issues, has served in facilitating policy formulating onand environment management at all levels of Government as wellas in decision–making aimed at environment protection and itsimprovement for sustaining good quality of life for all livingbeings. The ENVIS is a decentralised network of 67 Centres, ofwhich 32 Centres (or ENVIS Hubs), working on ‘State/UTenvironment and related issues’, are hosted by the Department ofEnvironment, Pollution Control Boards etc., of respectiveState/UT Governments, and 35 thematic Centres (or ENVISResource Partners – RPs) are working on specific subject areas. Utlising the vast network and expertise of ENVIS Hubs/RPs,the Ministryhas taken up an initiate for skillfor the first time,development in the environment and forest sector to enableIndia’s youth to get gainful employment and/or self employment,called TheGreen Skill Development Programme (GSDP). The GSDP has more than 44 certificate courses/training programmes on offer to skill enthusiasts, who are 18 years and above as Masters Trainers (MTs)/Specialists across the country to enhance their green skills GSDP at EPTRI EPTRI hosts ENVIS Resource Partner (RP) on Ecology of Eastern Ghats and ENVIS HUB on state of Environment and Related Issues for the State of Telangana. Under GSDP, EPTRI has conducted 10 programmes in the areas of Preparation of Peoples Biodiversity Register (PBR) Para-taxonomy including [(Peoples Biodiversity Register (PBR)]. Plant Tissue Culture Techniques and its Applications Pollution Monitors (Air and Water) Waste Management Water Budgeting and Auditing Environmental Impact Assessment ETP/STP/CETP Operation and Maintenance Sustain and Enhance Technical Knowledge in Solar Energy Systems Valuation of Ecosystem Services and Green GDP ENVIS Team comprising of Dr. M. Suneela , Scientist & ENVS Coordinator of ENVIS HUB & RP, Dr Jyothi, Sr.PO; Dr Veeranjaneyulu, P.O, ENIS RP and Mrs Akhila, PO and Mr Narayana, GIS expert from ENVIS RP displayed the activities of ENVIS at NRM.
