All India Service (AIS) officers one week in-service training programme on Environmental Impact Assessment (Development Projects), 18-22 February 2019 at EPTRI Capacity development is the process through which individuals, organizations and societies obtain, strengthen and maintain the capabilities to set and achieve their own development objectives over time. It is about transformations that empower individuals, leaders, organizations and societies, which this one-week in-service training programme is trying to achieve. This course Environmental Impact Assessment (Development Projects), is the first of the one-week in-service training for All India Service (AIS) officers hosted by EPTRI. In this training, EPTRI hosted six (6) Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers from three (3) States. The course was inaugurated by Shri. Ajay Mishra, IAS, Spl. Chief Secretary, Energy, Environment, Forests and Science & Technology, Government of Telangana and Shri. B. Kalyan Chakravarthy, IAS, Director General, EPTRI, Government of Telangana. This course briefly outlinedan understanding of the processes and techniques for assessing the impacts of proposed developmental actions on the environment, across a range of decision levels. It demonstrated the types of information required for assessing the impacts of a proposal on specific environmental parameters. We are thankful to the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India for giving EPTRI the opportunity to partner with it in achieving its objectives of addressing the competency gaps of government employees in the use of environmental management tools. The course concluded with Shri. K. Srinivas, IAS, Additional Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Government of India commending the AIS officers for participating in the course and acknowledging the role of EPTRI in Knowledge management for sustainable development.
